What i changed, that changed my Vision!

Well, some of you remember that i said i had noticed a great improvement in my vision the past 6 weeks or so. There was a little discussion about what the causes were, however i didnt really outline what i have done differently that i BELIEVE has changed my vision. Im not cured or anything, i just have better vision than before. Please don't read this post and think because it helped me it will you! :D

I scrapped most of my old eating habits, and changed to a healthier lifestyle.

I started with no Coffee, as i was a big coffee fan. Moved to water, at least 8 pints a day which is easily done. Then a few with orange juice added and the odd fruit juice.

Meals changed to no fatty meals, lots of fish and no meat. No added salt or sugar. I didn’t bother with chocolate and sweets anyway. I don't know if i mentioned i sell on markets. I used to run a sweet stall and deal in confectionary and that kind of killed my sweet tooth. I eat at least 5 fruits and vegetables a day! Which again is easily done.

I also take these

Boots One A Day Cod Liver Oil Capsules

I also have stepped up my exercise routine lots!

I believe that the big improvement in my vision is down to all these changes.

(And yes i do have the odd treat! But when you aren’t used to eating rubbish you don't like the taste anyway.)

The water alone would make a difference. The rest of your diet looks sensible and balanced. I'd just advise that you watch your magnesium intake. Some researchers suggest that KC is associated with Magnesium deficciency, and has been associated with Mitral Vavle Prolapse.

(Maybe there is Magnesium in yoiur supplements. By the way it is a good thing you are not a vegetarian) :D

Hey there, glad you have made some changes and it seems to have helped!

I will add to your post!

I don't eat a bad diet when i can be bothered! Loads of fruit, steamed veg and grilled white meat, along with pro-biotic yogurt, brown rice and jacket potatoes. I do eat chocolate but i try not to eat too much and am not a fan of sweets and crisps, though nuts and dried fruit are great! :lol:

My BIGGEST downfall is drinking! LOL!! Not as in drinking too much alcohol as i only really do that on socials with you all and after a week of nights when we all CHILL! But in basically drinking anything! I struggle to manage a cup ot tea and two glasses of something in a day, be it water or fruit juice. I hate fizzy drinks anyway unless there is Malibu in it!! But half as many glasses of water i am sure would help with dry eyes. Am trying ...

I do take multivitamins as well but mainly because while my diet is kinda ok it's not consistent as in i might skip days and not really feel hungry. I also take calcium as i don't drink enough milk, iron as not enough meat and my hb is always low and magnesium because recently i'm suffering with pins and needles and palpatations which is either a mineral deficiency or stress. Hehe, not too sure which one is worse!

So ... off to get some water and try harder! And exercise is fine as i work twelve hour days on my feet all the time so i'll pass on doing anything else unless my surgeon says it is finally ok to swim again! :lol:

I'm guessing that smoking doesn't help the eyes out at all? I smoke but i want to quit. I know its not diet related but its surely not good for the eyes, as we all know its bad for ya anyhow

I came across this on a site

Theoretically, bioflavonoids such as quercetin, bilberry, green tea polyphenols and particularly pycnogenol are also useful in keratoconus treatment, as they are all stabilizers of collagen. A recent study reported that flavonoids exert moderate collagenolytic inhibition (through PGE2 and leukotriene inhibition), as well as augment collagen synthesis in fibroblasts. Quercetin is also a natural antihistamine and mast cell stabilizer and may reduce ocular itching and eye rubbing.

Very interesting quote - where did you read it DJ?

I agree the water will definite benefit.

And the fact you're eating better and taking a bit of exercise means you'll be less tired and so will the eyes I suppose.

I think I'll join you - what ever works eh? And with that sort of regemin you can't lose.
