1st day of contact wear

I put them in fine, after the usual tears and runny nose. I was hoping things would focussed up but they didnt.

If I covered one eye it would be blurry but then I could focus, then I covered that eye and then that eye was blurry but focussed. However both eyes together, one eye remains blurry. Is this normal or is there something wrong ??? Did they put the wrong lens in each eye, is it suppose to focuss straight away after the tears and first day wear ?
I am at a loss for explaination.

Any feedback would help, the lenses dont feel that uncomfetable, they just dont focus for me and thats whats giving me the headache.

Hello there and welcome to the forum!

You don't actually say what lenses you have, or if you have KC? It could be that you have the lenses in the wrong eyes, or the prescription is not right, or you put a lot of solution on them when inserting them, but this would usually clear.

You should get good vision pretty much straight away, once any excess solution has cleared. If you don't i would suggest going back to your fitter and getting some advice. Having headaches usually suggests that your eyes are straining to see, so you might just have them in the wrong eyes. Have you tried switching them? It does take time when you start wearing lenses for the first time, but usually because they are uncomfortable, not because you can't see with them.

Thanks for the reply, they are brand new RGB's from Moorfields from Thursday and the reason for posting here is because I have mild Keratoconus.

Pehaps I put too much solution while applying. I'll put less on later and perhaps if that doesnt work then I'll switch to see if that works. The prescription should be the same as the glasses I wear and I have no problems with them or any change since I asked them to be made 3 months ago.
I'll persist with them and if nothing is satisfactory by Monday, I suppose I better phone Moorfields. Has been a frustrating year since being diagnosed, so I do want to give the lenses a go because they do get rid of my stigmatisim.

Sometimes the first couple of days is a bit blury as your eyes get used to this great lump thrust on them.

Some opticians make the lenses slightly less powerful to compensate for the amount of tears when they first fit you. This is beacause when the put a lens in, your eye automatically tries to wash it out like any foreign body. On top of this the optom is asking what letters you can see. When they check the lens fit at this stage, they are also looking at the amount of tears which can affect the vision.

Last visit I had, complaining one eye was blurred he checked that I had the lenses in the correct eye. This time the correct lens was in the correct eye. Many years agao when I firt had lenses, both looked alike and when you can not see it is easy to mix them up. Now I have to feel the case so I know which way round it is and I always put the same lens in first and take the same lens out first each day. In the last 21 months or renewed lens wear, never had a mix up.

Give it a few more days.

Thanks for the support. I will keep at it then and hope my eyes relax.

I've had the lenses tinted for each eye, although I cannot see the difference in the each lens colour I did put the right lenses in each eye from the case they sent me away with.

Hi, welcome to the group
You still didn't say what type of lenses you have - only "RGB" which I think should be "RGP" standing or "Rigid Gas Permeable" which is the material they are made out of.
But what size/ - are they corneal lenses (about the size of the iris), sclerals (about the size of a 2p bit), or....?

One thought - are you 100% sure you have cleaned them competely before putting them in? With the RGP materials, lenses can be very sensitive to still having a bit of, well, stuff, on them from when they were last in, and that means they don't wet thoroughly, so whne the inital lot of solutions you put them in with has washed away, you get left with fuzzy patches.

If you ever try wetting them to put in and it looks as if the fluid is pulling away and leaving uncovered patches, it's normally a sign that you need not more wetting solution because you missed a bit, but another go with the cleaner.
I got caught out with this when I first got RGPs (sclerals, in my case) because the older Perspex lenses weren't so fussy about this and I could get away with cleaning them only "every so often".
