Jayuk,

Not sure what you mean by credible vision, but my vision has improved. So far to say I can see out of my right eye.

The mornings are good are cleaning it with worm water, after the drops go in the eye can get a blurry....athough saying that I didi take the car out the other day (with my lens in) and was good.

Any news on your graft?

Hello mate

Yeah I mean credible as in adequate vision.....well thats good that you took the car out!...I assume the lens was in the other eye?...not the grafted one?....but thats a result that you can see through it well enough to a degree.........hope it gets better!!....keep me/us updated if you are able to....

My graft, well was cancelled last week as the donor material did not pass some of the screening process......I thougt that was it...another month wait...but got the call Friday that material had come available.....I will find out if it has passed the screening on tuesday eve.......but they have already scheduled the op for this Wednesday at 6pm......so barring the screening failing......all should go ahead.....hopefully!

bit nervous and I dont know why!....think it cause I am not good at taking in failure and if the graft fails i wont be impressed lol.

I cancelled I think we swapped grafts

Postby naeemkhamkar » Thu 05 May 2005 12:41 am

well well well,

I was booked in on the 4th april @ moorfields but due to a messup with my immunosuppressive medication we had to postpone, we obviously swapped grafts.

I rang up moorfields on 1st april & rearranged everything, as this is my 4th graft in the rught eye & we r also researching heavily using immunosuppressive medication. The docs take my opinion quite heavily thank god.

Im under the care of Mr.Gartry & professor sue Lightman who r both brilliant they see me personally or their fellows.
I have suffered frm gfraft rejection over the last 5yrs, its been hard.
I've suffered alot in all ways emotionally, mentally, physycally but pls every1 keep yr heads strong nothing is impossible. My depression was so bad last yr i began to sit in a dark corner with all lights switched off, to scared to go out or do anything. My wife watched helplessly, my children aged 5yrs & 2yrs watched. They tried to keep me goin but no1 cpould helpo me just myslf. i went over to the USA spent 3wks there came bck determined to get my life bck and i have. I took up a new interest. I think of things that i can do & what im gonna do in the future.
I also have to b realistic abt things n life.

As its late n am suffering frm my recent trauma plus the immune suppressant drugs I will post a gathered recollection of my experience over the last 5yrs later on. I want to help others in my situation. Love is a amazing emotion it will help us thru if we love each other & most of all appreciate the gift of sight.

Sorry if i havent made sense but i just cant think str8 with the medication im on its very hard plus still truamatised frm the recent graft.
Ive had 4 graft rejections in right eye. I'm intolerable to lens in my left eye. Been 2yrs Ive learnt to live life with single ocular vision and I enjoy everyday as I have KC in my left eye. I live to enjoy everyday as it comes with my wife and children.

Hi All,

Just an update really after my visit at Moorfields on Wednesday.

I can honesly say I was suprised on how well they said my grafted eye was doing...........My first stop was at the Refraction Department.

Without Glasses my vision was 3/6 on the chart, although with a little squint could read most of line 4, through the pinholes spec's was comfortably reading 4/6.

With glasses they found my vision was 3/6 which made me laugh because I could not understand how that works. All in all my vision was better without glasses than with.
My next appt was at Clinc 4, after waiting ages for my turn the consultant tested my IOP (if that correct) and was 14, two down from mt last visit last month. Th thing that made this visit more orth while was then telling to stop using Chloramphenicol. (maybe its physcological but whenever your ill and the doc say to stop using something it makes you feel better)

Still on the Maxidex 4 times a day though. The astigmatism is very minute on the graft and both the Optom and Consultant said the graft was healling very well and keepins its shape.

All in all in a happy things are gong well and that (touch wood) nothing else happens.

Until my next update.......

Hey Jay,

Come to think about so was I afterwards, but never thought to question it. I guess when doctors/consultans advise you can stop taking drops it its a sign that things are getting better and then again they know far better than me.

I did not actuall see Gartry this time, one of his fellows. Actually it was the same consultant who put me forward for the graft in the first place. Hence not questioing it at the time.

I will still get a repeat prescription though just to be safe on my side.

Vision still fluctuates and in the morning I do get a little Red, but soon disappears after the drops go in.

Next appt will not be until August now, so I have 2months of further progress to make.

Fingers crossed nothng adverse happens along the way.

Hey All,

Thought I'd give an update on my graft. It'll be 6 months next on the 04 October. Doesn't time fly?

After my cancelled appt in August....it was not so good yesterday.

IOP pressure was up to 30, which was very worrying, as a result they have given me RIMEXOLONE to use 3 times a day. Not sure what actaully causes the pressure to rise, but have been getting a few headaches lately. All that being my grafted eye was gritty and itchy yesterday therefore could have been a contribution to the pressure being high.

Got 3/9 reading the chart from grafted right eye (so no change to my appt in June) and 6/9 on the lens wearing left eye.

Also asked the Consultant about usuing Systane on the gafted eye and he said that it would be fine as long asi feel confortale with it.

Next appt is in a Month so hopefully things will become better and be given the OK to go on hols in November.

So will see how things go.

See ya (No pun intended)

Hi Dipesh,

Apart from the pressure increase, on the whole evrthing seems good.

If the 3/9 on the grafted eye has stayed stable for about three months, not good sight, but stability is good. Does this mean you can get near 6/6 with correction on the grafted eye?

If you can get this with glasses, to me that would be a result and party time!

I know when my graft stabalised post op 16+ years ago could not wait for glasses which gave me full vision in one eye again. Went straight out and got my race license back and persuaded my Mum to let me start racing her Purgeot GTi and within 18 months I was semi profesional!

Good luck for the next appt.

Didn't really ask or think they checked. than the as you said stability anything else at present.

Not on Maxidex anymore, they replaced that with RIMEXOLONE, which is another type of steriod. I looks like this one is stringer than Maxidex @ 1% as opposed to 0.05%.

Well will not dwell on it to much.......going to Liverpool Vs Chelsea on sunday. so looking forward to that.

Does anyone else have any ways of remedies on how best to keep pressure down.
