Saline

Postby Kirsty Eldridge » Fri 19 Aug 2005 5:01 pm

I have been using scleral lenses and am coming to the end of my sachets of saline. Went to boots to get some more and they wanted £10 for 25 sachets! Yet at Southampton Hospital i only had to pay £2.75 for around 50 sachets (i live on I.O.W so cant easily get them from Southampton). Where does anybody else get them from that dont cost a fortune?
Thankyou
Kirsty

Hi Kirsty

I found myself in the same situation when I first got my scleral lenses, saline was very expensive from the local chemists I found with some types being as much as 60p a vial.

I am currently using Normasol and to get further supplies I went to see my GP and now get a regular amount prescribed on prescription usual 100 or 200 sachets at a time for the cost of a prescription.

Hopefully your GP could do similar for you, after all if you are like me without the saline I can't see.

best wishes

Susan
