Iritis

Postby Gillian » Tue 09 Aug 2005 10:23 pm

Dear Sweet I feel so sorry for you. I had iritis excactly this time last year. What a terrible time it was. Moorfields wouldn't allow me to wear a lens in the affected eye and what's more I had to use the dilating drops which sooo blurred the little unaided vision I have. It had to be my 'good' eye of course. I followed the instructions to the absolute letter- kept the drops in the fridge etc etc. I searched the internet for all I could ever find about this conditon. A TERRIBLE IDEA. Got lots of wrrong end of sticks! Thank heavens after a few weeks I was ok, lens back and all fine now. The pain was the most I have ever had. Having three children was a piece of cake compared to that! Moorfields were very good and immediately identified the condition and I do believe that it was 'one of those things'. I don't think (and I am not a prof) that it is connected with KC. I wish you all the very best. Try and be patient as it will heal and do look after it. My thoughts are with you.

Gillian i know what you say about the pain, have never hurt so much and been so photophobic in my life! These drops are killing me though, my whole life recently seems to have revolved around setting the time for eyedrops!! But have now been told that after a week i can stop using the dilating ones, so it's thanks for that, as they are a dam nuisance! Horrible blurry vision that it gives you!

It ALWAYS has to affect your good eye lol, that's sods law! I wouldn't have minded it in the other eye so much as that is really blurry anyway and i don't really wear a lens in it, but as with all the recent eye problems i have had it had to affect the better one so stopping me putting in a lens to see. Eyes and vision lately are driving me insane, so am going for a graft in the hope that for once i can do something right and get somewhere back to normal!

Susan, i've given up on sclerals, and as the main reason was for my left eye and i'm now having a graft i'm not sure if i will go back for my right. Although with only one to stress about until everything has settled after the graft i might try it, who knows. Am really sorry to hear about your vision, it's hard when you get told that your 'good' eye is now your worst, and you're thinking hang on, my bad eye was NEVER good, so that makes my vision pretty much non-existent right! Am really hoping that after a refit it improves.

Jacqueline we both seem to be having a summer of hell. I haven't really seen any of it for the last five months (quite literally!), although i did struggle and get myself to Scotland for my birthday but that was very touch and go til the last minute, although being the day after 7/7 i guess i had more to think about anyway. If i wasn't so dam stubborn and determined that my eyesight was NOT going to ruin my birthday i would have been selling my tickets on Ebay before i lost £300!!

LOL, my sister and two friends who i went with were supportive, although wishing they could drive us instead was not what i wanted to hear as none of them have passed their test! I didn't see much of the weekend as i was saving my sight to drive back so took my lens out, but it didn't really matter, as i was more than happy that we got there safely and i didn't ruin a weekend for everyone :o

Am just hoping here that you are staying positive, counting down the days until you can put your lens back in and see again will drive you insane! Trust me! Take it easy and wishing you all the best, and please don't start working your way through the eye complaints as well, as one of us is more than enough!

Talk soon!
