How many times are we warned about over wearing our lenses?

Well after changing my work life balance to fit around sensible lens wear, I did agree to be frlexible, but perhaps I have been too flexible!

14 hours on Sunday at an airfield surrounded by hay meadows.

12 hours on Monday and Tuesday doing laboratory work

Today (Wednesday) in eye casualty

I have has what appears to be an allergic reaction to my lenses! Reason for this diagnoses is that I am not showing any signs of hayfever which are normally associated with the discomfort. The lenses are comfortable, it is just the eye lid.

Now I must take a variety of anti-inflamatory drops and lubricating eye drops four times a day. Not to wear the left lens for two weeks and the right one to be used so I am legal to drive to work then it must come out and go back in again when I come back. Oh and the lens needs to be removed before putting drops in and can not put lens in again for about 30 minutes!

Will still be at the confrence, but will find it hard to see any one! Sure I will not be the only one.

Will not enter a bike, but still plan on entering the car.

My daughter will not forgive me if I do not go as I have told her we can make it a camping wekend! She is really looking forward to it.

Perhaps I should let my wife drive!

Really sorry to hear that, and i wont tell you not to wear your lenses so much, as i get in the habit of doing that as well as i work 12 hour shifts.

Eye drops are a right pain i know, have just finished 6 weeks of the dam things! Do take it easy and i hope it all clears up soon.

Sorry to hear your problems, hope you are now getting over them and in time for the conference. Hope to "see" you there...........

Will most definitly be at the confrence.

Went to a works training thing yesterday, for most it was a 14 hour day, but for me to sort my eyes it was 18 hours!!!! Still got the prize for inovation in a problem solving competition. The area you could win were;

1) Distance travelled
2) No corpoerate products used
3) Innovation

The judges did not know I had a sight problem until I received the prize and enquired why I had the dark glasses!

I am now thinking that the dry air here at work has not helped. Now I am on the eye drops, one of which I have been told to keep using when I start wearing the lenses again properly (Just have the right lens for driving at the mo). These drops are quite viscous, but hep the eye retain moisture and prevent drying. They also help lubricate the lens which is good.

Have been told I should be able to go to my old regime of routinly wearing the lenses for 8 hours but the 12 hour wear times will be one offs, three long sessions in a row may be out.

However we do not know our limits until we exceed them!
