I hope you don't have to wait much longer. Sometimes an operation is cancelled at short notice (for example, the scheduled patient gets a streaming cold a day or two before the op). Hospitals may then approach someone else on the list. If you're in a position to go in with just a day or two's notice, then it's worth checking with the hospital whether you could be on their standby list if they have one - though this might not work as you're having a more complex double procedure. All the best and keep us posted.

Hello again
Thought I'd update you about my situation and would be grateful for some advice please.
I attended an appointment at the UHCW yesterday,Thursday, and was told I could expect my operation in January or February next year, I have been waiting since August last year.

I have been in touch with the Low vision suppport group in Warwick who have been very understanding and helpful. I have been given a small white stick as I have problems seeing traffic and crossing roads if there is no crossing.

My husband, Graham, is wondering whether it would be possible to have my operation done at Moorfields privately and I would welcome any advice please regarding getting a second opinion done there and how to go about it. Any help will be gratefully received thank you.
Will keep you updated as to my progress.
Cheers Lesley.
Live long and Prosper.

It's been such a long wait for you. If you were going for a second opinion on the NHS, you probably wouldn't get an appointment much before the end of the year. But for a private second opinion, I think you could just contact Moorfields Private directly https://www.moorfields.nhs.uk/private and hopefully get an appointment within a couple of weeks with one of the corneal surgeons. If you had the surgery done privately at Moorfields, bear in mind that with a corneal graft, you'd have quite a few follow up appointments in the first few months. But I guess it's not too bad a journey from Warwick.
As ever, do let us know how you get on.
