All,
Please HELP! I'm in such a predicament. My hospital prescribed scleral lens broke a few weeks back and despite calling almost everyday to try and get an appointment/replacement lens they haven't got back to me.
Out of desperation I've found a specialist contact lens clinic in Birmingham that can fit sclerals but they've just informed me the cost of the lenses and test is likely to be upwards of £850!
Considering without these lenses I would be blind and at the hospital they are £57 each. Are there any suggestions of how I can make these more affordable? I'm not eligible for low income but I also.cant just absorb close to £1000 from my current budget
What to do when the hospital doesn't answer?

Scleral lenses are very expensive and also fitting specialist lenses also takes a lot of time which adds to the cost. I would expect that other specialist contact lenses would be charging similar fees for scleral lenses, if not more.
You could try contacting Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at the hospital. You can find out how to do this on the NHS website.

Optometry say that if there's a problem to call them.
This system doesn't work at Moorfields, no one ever replies so its down to being bad enough for A&E or waiting for the next appt (which are bring cut down) or PALS, but good luck there.

Have you tried the "Orders" team? They are in the room next to the waiting area for Clinic 4.
