DOUBLE VISION WITH SCLERAL LENS???

Postby HARRY » Fri 03 Jun 2005 9:44 pm

HELLO PEOPLE
HOPE ALL ARE WELL?
I HAVE RECENTLY GOT A SCLERAL lens FOR MY BADLY KC AFFECTED LEFT EYE FROM MOORFIELDS.
THEY GAVE ME THE lens TO TAKE HOME.
I HAVE TO SAY IT'S NOT THE EASIEST THING TO PUT IN AND ONCE IT IS IN, BOY CAN YOU FEEL IT.
ANYWAY I HAVE A PROBLEM, THE VISION HAS COME BACK INTO PLAY BUT I HAVE WHAT THE HOSPITAL CALL DOUBLE VISION? I WANT TO KNOW IF ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM AND HOW THEY OVERCAME IT?MOORFIELDS SAY I NEED TO GIVE IT TIME TO FUSE THE VISION AS THE LEFT EYE HAS BEEN AFFECTED AND OUT OF USE FOR SOMETIME. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO HELP IT IN THE MEANTIME?
I GUESS IF ANYONE WILL KNOW, YOU GUYS WILL.
PLEASE REPLY WITH YOUR VIEWS AND ANY EXERCISES WHICH MAY HELP?

THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE....
YOU ARE NEVER ALONE,SO DO NOT SUFFER IN SILENCE.........

Hello Harry

Not sure that I can answer your question as you would like, as I don't have a problem with double vision. Probably due to the fact that both eyes are quite bad now and I have a scleral lens for each eye, so when they are in I usually see ok ish with both.

If I only have one lens in things are a little different however, for me this tend to be clearish through the eye with the lens and blurry through the other.

As for getting used to the sclerals, for me it took some time and I personally would imagine if you only have one lens it will yake you a little longer to get used to them. I feel this is as one eye will feel weird and the other will feel normalish.
At least with two lenses in both eyes feel odd together.

Just keep practicing and don't give up with the lens it will be worth it in the end, being able to see that is. And remember it does take most of us some time to get used to them and also get used to getting them in without any stress or hassle.

Good luck

Susan
