sport after CXL

Postby lukasf » Tue 13 Jan 2015 5:22 pm

Here is my case: I have diagnosed keratoconus in my both eyes and I'm going to have cross-linking done.
What is your opinion or experience about do sports? I'm talking about strength training. I'm not a professional, but I really enjoy lifting weights which I was doing till now. My ophthalmologist says that moves requiring valsalva manoeuvre are not recommended because of increasing blood pressure in the eye. But come on, even sneezing can cause that effect.
Of course I don't wanna doing this just after treatment.

Pretty sure I saw guidelines saying only swimming is not recommended... for obvious reasons really.

I had two weeks off from working out then slowly worked my way back up to where I was before, no problems 8)

Many thanks for the answer.
I hope that cross-linking will help me to stabilize and strengthen the cornea. From my point of view many doctors don't understand how important role plays an active life for some people.
