Alternative eye gel recommendations – to aid with dry eyes

Postby Jugger » Wed 02 Jul 2014 11:01 am

Hi all,

To try and help with my dry eyes, I use VitA-POS eye gel at night. I tried to get some this week and my pharmacy informed me that it is currently out of stock with the manufacturer and they don’t know when this issue will be resolved.

Consequently, I’m looking for a substitute to use in the interim – preservative free and something that I can get prescribed by my doctor.

Thanks,

Jugger

I don't know about gels, but I've recently been prescribed Hylo Tears, which are certainly helping me when I put them in before inserting my lenses. They're on prescription.

Hi Jugger,
Try calling the distributors Scope Ophthalmics Ltd Phone: 01293 897209/ 0800 270 0253
Ask if they have a supply problem and if (insert the name of the pharmacy you use) should have a problem getting hold of vitapos? When the problems is expected to be resolved?

I am sorry if I am wrong, but the scope ophthalmics website seems to me to show vitapos as available to buy from their own website, which if correct means the pharmacy should be able to source the vitapos but it might take a few extra days.

A similar alternative is lacrilube but that does not have the vitamin a in it.
