Hi Lia
Thanks for the reply!
Did you ever have a burning a cosy feeling in ur eyes when u first started? Is this normal or will it take time to adapt?
I'm managing my lenses in for 4-5hrs but that's all!
I have no idea what type of soft lenses I'm wearing, however I will ask 2moro if I actually get into the hospital to see them!

Re: Given up with Piggybacking
My eyes felt fine and comfortable with them in but they just didn't look right, They seemed off colour and in the morning they were bright pink. The hospital moved me back to RGP as they were concerned that blood vessels could grow into the cornea.
They have given me a new RGP with a plasma coating which I am told will help with dryness.
I am using Catacrom as well to help with my hayfever.
My eyes look a lot healthier now

No, I didn't have a burning feeling in my eyes when I first started piggybacking. It doesn't sound normal to me. When I started piggybacking I used the RGPs that I already had. Piggybacking has meant that the RGP is no longer intolerable after about three weeks (of daily wear). The only minor difficulty I had was getting used to putting the soft lens in and out as the technique is very different from an RGP.
How did you get on today?

Hi lia
Sadly I didn't get in to see them. The hosptial called and said I could have an appointment on Friday.
More time off work until I get this sorted out. It was fun trying to explain this to my work.
I used soft lenses before and then the RGP ones, so I'm generally quite comfortable with putting in and taking out both types of lenses.
Again yesterday I managed about 5hrs of wear before I had to take them out. Given my working day is 10hrs I've still got a bit to go!
Fingers crossed Friday will bring good news.
Anyone had experience of going private?

You might find this factsheet useful:

If you are thinking of going private a list of KC friendly opticians can be found here:

Re: Given up with Piggybacking
Well, Friday came early for me!
Managed to get a cancellation appointment today. So that was good news for me.
We're gonna try semi scleral lenses. Apparently the soft lens was sticking on to my eye causing the burning feeling.
Fingers crossed for the scleral lenses. Just need to wait for a week or two to get them!
Thanks for all the device.
The fact sheet for the work place is very useful indeed.
I've printed it off and have a copy of it in my tray at work to use as and when I require it to show to a manager or the like!
