help! with hard lenes

Hi, I have had KC for the last 8 years. Have got through life wearing glasses, but I feel that I need to get the hard lenses. I tried then 5 years ago, and got them through vision express. The problem was that they were really pianful at times and so small that i could not see where they were, and so lost two pairs of lenses! I think I am ready now, to go back to the lenses, but am scared of the costs, as the lenes before cost 90 pounds.

So could you be as kind as to recommend me anywhere to go in London, where I can get some cheap lenses!

Im afraid lenses are not cheap when you go and buy them yourself.......and also Id urge you to find a place who are capable in fitting KC patients....more often than not the high street Opticians do not have the skill sets to fit patients with KC......

I agree...

"cheap" lenses are not the issue... KC lenses have to be made to your specifications... so its like you are asking for designer clothes at market prices...

I know they cost a lot of money... but the manufacturors have to put a lot of money into development and maintaining worskshops to make them. If they decided to go for the easy life and make disposeable soft lenses then people with KC would end up not being able to see at all!

This may sound harsh.... but I am trying to put it into perspective. You have a condition where your vision is poor without contacts. The lenses enable you to lead a normal life - therefore they are a priority. I do know they are expensive and believe me, I know what it is like to juggle costs...but I ask you to consider what is the best kind of lens for YOU - not what is the cheapest!

There are options of sclerals and soft lenses - both of which are more comfortable than the smaller RGP's..... but they are NOT "cheap" options!

top tip for finding them - get a small keyring torch. Hard contacts catch the light, especially in the dark.
