Yes.. a blood pressure/pulse issue. There are many aspects of vision where you will notice a pulse...its inevitable as we actually "see" through our blood vessels on the retina. The retinal receptors actually point away from the outside world and face the back of our heads.. thus all light has to filter through lots of biological tissue which explains a lot of "entopic" imagery,...ie seeing the workings of our eyes..
If you close your eyes in the dark and concentrate.. you'll see myriads of bright lights whizzing round in circles.... if you see this you are actually looking at your own blood corpuscles!
Dave... pins and needles is a whole different ball game lol.. usually this is due to some sort of pressure on nerves. This could be from a neck/arm/elbow injury/swelling ...and is a whole different ball game .. ahem...
