The variability of waiting times for corneal transplants around the country is something this charity has been talking about to NHS British Transplant. Times vary from 2/3 months to 2 years according to data collected from UK hospitals.

Is this data available to view by the public - if so please could you supply a link or copy and paste it here for the KC community.

A search of the NHS British Transplant website only brings up the fact that work is going on to look at variations in waiting times, so the data I quoted aren't public yet. I will update members as soon as we hear more.

Looks like your in a privileged position to have the data but sadly the KC community are not.

Unfortunatly for those of us in a position of responsibilty within a charitable organisation working with professional bodies are often bound by confidentiality clauses, especially where research and data is concerned. It would be irresponsible to give out this information before the data is published because until that time we have no certainty that the data has =been checked and validated.

The last thing anyone wants to do is to give information in good faith only to retractit later with an apology before the correct data is provided.

I sympathise with both you and Anne, from your point of view it is frustrating not having the answers to the questions you ask but it must be equally frustrating for Ann knowing she may have the answers you seek but being unable to provide the information until she knows it is OK to do so.
