Corneal Graft Tomorrow....

Postby djs1972 » Mon 16 Jan 2012 8:55 pm

Well after what has felt like an eternal wait, tomorrow i go into Hospital to have the graft done on my right eye, had all my pre op checks done today and i am cool about it all at the moment. By the morning i will most likely be slightly more anxious, but will have to wait and see, the thought of hopefully being able to see properly for the first time in years, has so far outwieghed any feelings of being worried.

i am sure much of my relaxed mood, is down to the great posts on here, and the advice given freely to all who need it, many thanks to all, and i will update in a day or 2 once i am out.

bye for now.

Thanks Rob,

Still feeling ok about it all, just got to be patient and not try and do anything too fast! bag is packed and not enjoying the fact i cant eat!

Never been one to sit around, so the next few days could be a bit strange to be fair, how are you getting on with the vision in your eye now? is it settling down nicely.

cheers, Darren.

Hi Darren , yea the first couple of weeks the eye was watering quite a bit ,but never had any pain .I saw the surgeon again yesterday and he told me I had an eye lash caught in one of the stitches which he removed so that could have been causing the watering i guess .Vision wise my sight is so much better in my left eye ,although it was next to zero before ,it is still quite blurry but I am hoping in time they will fit me with glasses if not a contact lens which will improve my sight a lot more ,I am lucky that I have good vision in my right eye .

Again many best wishes for tomorrow

ps make sure you have a good dinner tonight lol

Cheers Rob,

Well its nearly 48 hours since my graft, and i am happy to report that all feels ok, my eye was a bit dry overnight, and seems to have stopped watering. So far my vision is not good but better than yesterday, but luckily no pain and just a little irritation every now and then.

The steroid drops i have seem ok, getting up in the night was a pain, but its not forever, i am seeing the Consultant next tuesday for a follow up, and he was happy that i only needed a partial graft, so hopefully recovery will be a bit speedier than i first expected.

Sat here qute happily listening to Rally Monte Carlo on the internet, so can sit back and relax to that.

Darren

Great news on the graft. :D

As with Rob I am past the 4 weeks stage now and, as with Rob, getting the drops in on time is the only problem I have.

All the best in your recovery

Jaimz

I had one on the 5th December on my left eye. I dnt know about anyone else but I obsess over it every time I feel something or I feel I've had a loss of vision since it I think it's rejecting or not going okay! Before I had it my vision was basically 0 in it my right eye also has KC but thankfully I can see clear out of it for now. The other day my eye was unbearable every time I stood up and walked I felt something in my eye and I thought it was a stitch come loose but the past two days it has been fine has anyone else had the same thing?
