Pain in the eyes!

Postby Dave Dale » Wed 20 Oct 2004 2:57 pm

A simple question but I have been getting 'stabbing' pains around and 'in' (if this is possible?) my eyes?

Pain in there regardless if C/L's are in or not so not them I guess? Just wondered if the changes in the cornea would have a 'pain' effect?

Cheers,
Dave.

Alternatively, I'd recommend presenting yourself at your local "eye casualty" unit (often seperate from A&E, but sometimes the same place).

Best of luck.

Pain in Eyes

Postby Jacqueline Cheetham » Wed 27 Oct 2004 12:21 pm

Hello Dave, I have had pain in my eyes for months... Lots of people have really tried to help, but nothing so far. I have been told, that the pain is due to wearing sclerals for so many years about 8 or 9 years. Therefore my cornea is damaged and has small tears in it!!!. I also have dry eyes and that doesn't help, opening them in the mornings is torture. I have just had my bottom tear ducts plugged. I am a lot more comfortable but still have the pain. I'm getting to the not 'talking about it anymore' stage, as I am sure people think it's all my my head.... Good luck. I would be interested to hear what answers you get.. Jacqueline

Dave, I also suffer from those srabbing pains (my left eyes the worst) and have spoken about it every time I get a check up @ the optician (my local hospital - St John's doesnt have the best eye dept!), The answer I get is that the pain is a known symptomt but they dont know what causes it or how to treat it.

The funny thing is that one of the girls that I work beside also suffers from these pains. She doesnt have keratoconus but has had a couple of cataract ops. Could it be that the pain is associated with any serious eye problem?

Greig.
