Thats wondeful Lynn thank you.

Ok questions. I can read with my Left(Operated EYe) in good light at about 3 inches. So we'll call it LE.
LE has blurred vision but better blurred vision than it used to have. Consultant said one of the measurements was -10 for IOL.
Wierd stuff I have encountered is when Telly is on with blurred eye I can see some stuff last night I was gobsmacked that I could make out bottom of Page T s and C's on the Telly and could make out the pictures but with wobbly bits around stuff. Reading with it in good light is about 3 inches but it does mean I can text without carrying glasses if I shut RE.
My current scleral is BOZR 7.64 and BVP -3.25 whatever that means. I dont know if when I put this one in I will see more less or mega blur.

Right Eye (RE) has a Clearkone and I am told categorically it gives me my driving vision and I can see roads junctions everything but wouldnt be able to read a number plate because Black letters on White Background are wierd. I dont understand why I can read the letters in the clinic but walk out onto the street and struggle reading signs. I can only read books with +2.5 glasses on top if I have perfect lighting.

I am an artist and cant seem to see the Detail with RE and now I am panicking a bit as at some point I will need to have the same thing happen to RE.
I need to be able to drive and this whole episode is driving me a bit bonkers.

Hi Anna

Not sure if there was actually a question in all of that!

Power with scleral lenses sometimes does not reflect "real"power so it is a case of waiting and seeing (if you excuse the pun!). However, what you are saying about the LE does sound encouraging.

Some of the previous issues with LE and current ones with right eye may be due to residual astigmatism from the developing cataracts and this may be difficult to resolve with rigid lenses. Therefore you might find the left behaves better now that your own lens has gone. Has anyone tried to resolve the vision better with the RE with glasses on top? (For distance, I mean?)

Ref RE and distance no they havent but I will ask when i go back in june RE goes to a different clinic to LE (Dont ask).

I am thinking that signs for LE are encouraging but then I was very positive with what I heard before Op only to be brough down like a ton of bricks just before the op when I was told he had decided against IOL.

I know it is what it is and whatever will happen but its not nice not being in control of my life at the moment.

Ok a quick update from me (lovely info Lynn I know so much more about eyes now).
I have posted seaparately for some reason my vision with my riht eye has sharpened back up.

I would like everyone to hold their breath tomorrow afternoon as I am going to stuff my old scleral in my left eye and see if I can see anything or just inspiration for an abstract painting.

I was told I could try it after 2 weeks so I am being very good waiting until tomorrow.

If its absolute rubbish I have to wait until end of month for re-inventing my vision.

I'll post an update if nothing else it will be interesting to see what effect no natural lens has.

Hi Anna,

Don't know if my experience is any use to you, i had a cataract removed from my grafted eye about near enough 2 years ago!

Consultant decided to opt for a lens that would enable me to see distances rather than close up, his words were along the lines of 'so you can see what bus is coming'!! I dont know powers or anything sorry

I have to say that this has worked extremely well for me and I would even go as far as saying my grafted/cataract eye gives me much better sight than my 'good eye', both with and without my lenses in. I remember taking the eye patch off and just couldn't believe I could see!

On the downside when I'm having a bad day with my 'good eye' i'm pretty much lost then as I struggle close up with the cataract eye.

I've also now got a secondary cataract

But overall, i'm extremely happy - 5 yrs ago I could barely see a thing out of bad eye - now its the stronger of the 2.

Sarah

Thanks sarah - Quick Update :-

Tried my old lens in (Scleral) Didnt expect to see much and I was right it was pants.

Went out for the day and discovered a bonus. Left Eye No Contact Lens and cataract removed Whoop Whoop I can map read for OH without burrowing down the back of the seat for glasses - you know the scenario Bright Light need sunglasses cant read map get glasses can read map ouch bright light.

So currently I cant see well out of left eye but my near sight is amazing can use my android mobile read maps menus although the menu thing was difficult stood outside pub blocking the whole world from reading it. :-)

Still wierd Right eye seems to be stronger still perhaps I am managing it better who knows.
