Swimming pool vision..

Postby Loopy-Lou » Thu 08 Jul 2010 1:47 pm

Trying a new RGP, it's quite 'bell' shaped and it's been hard getting it in but success today.
The vision is so weird though, like a swimming pool but sharp at the same time and moving around. I feel a bit drunk

While it lasts, I'd try to limit my wear time each day. You could give yourself a migraine watching the world go all wobbly!

I've had this before but only with untinted lenses but it is only letters that go wobly rather than the whole world. So what you describe Lou is how I see words and letters with my Dyslexia. This was really exagerated when I first started with the soft lenses but we have managed to work round that and still maintain the perfect vision. No idea how we did it, all I did was say what I could see.

The other time I wold get this would be after removing my RGP lenses when I was on them and the corneas started to spring back from the pressure they were under from the lenses.

Might be a settling feature of the lenses but I am sure you will be back on to the hospital if this persists.
Gareth

Thanks Gareth, always helps to know you're not alone. Yes it is text which wobbles around the most which means I have to really concentrate on what I'm looking at otherwise it gets confusing. Outside of text it's that horrible sharpness combined with swimming pool which I find 'startling' if that makes sense. I don't want to be outside whilst I'm building up wear time because I feel freaked out enough indoors. Still not past the 'I have a lump of plastic on my eye' sensation neither. It's still difficult getting a lens in the left eye and takes 4 attempts rather than the 1 or the right so some ahem loud sentences occur from the bathroom

something occured to me - that eye hasn't seen much in 20 years so maybe the muscles are not used to focussing so are a bit wobbly and need time to adjust to seeing something as much as my brain.

I had that recently.
A new scleral lens after 6 months without any vision from that eye, my whole field of vision looked like i was looking through a heat haze
I think its the brain trying to get used to the signals again. It went away for me quite quickly
Good luck :)
