Hi
My fiance had a DALK in February 09 - he still has the stitches in. One was removed 6 weeks ago due to it becoming lose. Another stich had to be removed today due to an infection which has developed. Has anyone else experienced this?
Consultant is wary to remove stitches as he is getting good vision with them in. And removing them could make his vision worse with glasses and lenses. What are other peoples experiences with having stitches removed etc?
Anyone who can share info -thank you in advance

Re: DALK infection stitch removal
My sutures remained in place for 18 months (first eye, then taken out in two goes; eight at a time)
20 moths second eye and then all taken out at the same time.
The result for me has been better than 6/6 vision (corrected). I wear glasses for my right eye with a plain glass lens in the left and a contact lens on my left eye.
All the best

Re: DALK infection stitch removal
each doctor and each eye seems to be different.... i also had my stitches in for about 9 months, and they were removed one by one and then the remaining running stitch all at once. the eye stabilised nicely after the stitches were taken out and i was able to be fitted with glasses to get better than 6/6 vision...
