Pinhole glasses

Hi everyone

Just been on the web and saw a site selling "pin hole" glasses.

Just wondered - would these be any good for us? I do ave a pair of glasses which i wear late at night - the vision is betta than without glasses but makes everything look further away - so its difficult to walk around in them and impossible to walk up or down stairs.

wondered if it would be worthwhile investing in a pair of pin holes glasses

Some people with very severe KC use pinhole glasses to watch television. So far as I am awarethey are not useful for any other purpose, and are probably only an advantage if your KC is very bad indeed.

hi libby , ive gota pair of these and there handy when your not wearing your lenses to watch tv or read a book..

Hi Libby,

I know exactly what you mean. You can watch TV – but walk across the room the whole world swims and caves in at the edges. I had exactly the same problem! However if you persevere the brain will make sense of it.

In 1997 (having not worn glasses for 20 years) I ordered a pair of back-up glasses. I didn’t expect them to replace my lenses but I had hoped that they would provide some emergency vision for a rare bad eye day. When I first got them I was warned that the prescription had been backed off as my eyes weren’t used to seeing through glasses however I found the distorted images difficult to cope with and the glasses were consigned to the back of a drawer.

A few years later I decided to have another go and started to wear them for a short time each morning. Gradually the verticals became vertical and the horizontals horizontal. Although the vision is nothing like that with my contact lenses it is a lot better than without any aid. I now wear them for half an hour or so in the morning to give my eyes a rest.

Try wearing your glasses while you move around the house (but don't try to use them on the stairs) so that your brain can make sense of the images.

Think I may invest in a pair of pin hole glasses - got nothing to lose after all.

My ordinary glasses changed my life - having relied on contact lenses for over 20 years as I had been told I would get no benefit from glasses - a few years ago I insisted on having a pair of spectacles prescribed.
They had to tweek with the prescription as I couldnt cope with the vision (its made me feel extremely sick and headachy), even so the vision I got was wonderful.
After having years of literally no vision if I took my lenses out to now being able to watch the television and read a book as completely changed the quality of my life. Before glasses when I took my lenses out I would go to bed because watching television or reading a book was impossible.

So there we have it I will order a pair of the internet tonight and see how I cope with them.
