Lucy (lcogrady) was last here in May of this year. She had a lot going on, but has dropped out of sight.

Hi all

So i had my consultation and......... still no contact lens, my hydrops hasnt healed well enough yet  and i am due back in in a month TO TRY AGAIN

I had my sight tested in my grafted eye again and my prescription has changes quite a bit for 2 months.
old : SPH +2.00 CYL -5.50 AXS 120
new: SPH +0.75 CYL -4.25 AXS 105 AV 0.08
That will explain why i am struggling again, and have to tilt my head all day at work.

To top it all off, i am getting styes all the time in my grafted eye, i cant understand why i am getting so many, at least 1 a week, currently i have 3 and my eye is really painful :(
Has anyone else experienced this?

Not feeling at all good at the mo.

Hi Tom
Sorry you've had a knock back on the ungrafted eye - hopefully you'll get there next month. And the good news is that the change in prescription on the grafted eye is going the right way. And of course it's quite likely that it will change again when you have the stitches out. But I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end! As for styes, I've had the occasional one, but nothing like what you're experiencing. Did you ask about that at your last hospital appointment? Do talk about it next time you go.
All the best
Anne

Hi Tom,
SOrry to hear about the hydrops and lack of new lens.
Your prescription sounds like it is ot far off "normal" now - just a bit astigmatic.
I've had a lot of problems with sore and swollen eyelids and spots on them - I guess that's "styes"?
I've attributed those mainly to bad reactions to the anti-glaucoma ee drops they put me on - the first sort made my eyes really sore.
Are you still on steroid drops? - it could be those causing the problem. Being on steroid meds reduces your resistance to infection, particularly viruses, and I'm guessing the styes are a virus infection?
Hope they clear up - please do talk to the hospital about them.
Rosemary

Cheers anne and rosemary, and Rosemary im sorry you have pain still as well..
I have been off the steroids for nearly 3 months now, in fact the styes began appearing about that time.
A lot happened at once then so it's difficult to put my finger on a cause, my hydrops, getting glasses, and the grafted eye having to take over and getting more tired than it should......i am guessing the latter may be the true cause.
Had to go to casualty recently due to a lot of pain, the doc told me what a nice job the surgeon had done, that its probably that the stitches are ready to come out and that they/the bumps in between may be iritating the eyelid as i blink..... who knows? but by the sounds of things the graft is good.
My only drops now are 0.3 Hypromelulose, when I feel i need it.....
