Alvin, how long ago was your graft?
I only had a week off too but my grafts were done 20 and 19 years ago.

Re: Unrealistic time frame ??
Hi Gareth. My graft was about 1.5 years ago, 2007 Dec.
I'm a officeman and work with PC. Although I was off about a week, of course I did not sport and did not lift heavy objects etc about a year...

As the others have said... there is generally a 6 week period following any surgery where one has to take it easy -its the general time healing takes place and it does depend on what you do. When you lift heavy weights, the IOP can rise very sharply - even up to 50 or so depending, and if you have a cornea held in place with stitches, you can see the issues? As an optom, you will have a sedentary job but if you drive to work, then an emergency stop could very well cause some disturbance. Also, if you do have an emergency where the IOP simply just goes up and you need some treatment you need to be able to go and get seen straight away.
Just one thing... you say you wear piggy backing "with hardly any trouble" for your good left eye... really think and make sure what that means as you will be totally reliant on that eye for quite a while in the future!!
Lynn
i dont really understand your comment on the piggy back situation in that last comment ?? i have been dependent on the le for a long time now , the outcome of the op hopefully is to relieve the stress on that eye and hopefully gain some degree of BSV

Don't expect instant results from your graft: the new tissue will be held in place by sutures and these may place an uneven stress on the surface of your eye. Many people really do not see much improvement in their vision until the sutures start coming out, and then it may be some months before the vision in your grafted eye stabilizes enough to make a lens or specs a realistic option.
All the best

Re: Unrealistic time frame ??
im a aware that it will take over a year and a half for full healing and full evidence of wat type of vision if any will be achievable from the grafted eye. I just want to make sure that i am been realistic about giving myself 3 weeks max for recovery because if im doing it i really want to do it properly and not alter the outcome by doing too much too soon . thanks all for your feedback so far very helpful and interesting.
