I would have to agree with rosemary on this.
I would suggest exhausting all possibilities of different lenses brefore choosing the surgical option.
I am 6 months post graft and cant read the top line of the snellen chart unaided, my other eye has a scleral lens and i am about 16:9 on a good day, Without the lens, i cant even see that the chart exits until i am less that a meter away from it.
I can empathise with you as i have had a bad time with my lenses, sclerals have been the best for me out of all the ones i have tried but i have gone through patches where i have had to 'reset' my lens every 10 minutes due to discomfort.
Good luck in whichever path you choose to go down.
