Does anyone else experience dizziness because of their keratoconus? I have been feeling dizzy, and just kind of "off-centered" in my head for a while now. If I turn my head, it gets worse. I also have a really hard time following things with my eyes, and if a lot is going on around me (people moving around, etc.), I really lose my focus and just feel like I want to get away. It affects my concentration, confidence, and even ability to interact with others.
I have also been having some sinus problems, so I'm not entirely sure that all of my problems are KC related. But I am interested in finding out if some of my dizziness and disorientation could be KC related. Thoughts?

Re: Dizziness...
With my RGP's I could tell if a cold was coming on because he lenses became irritating and if my sinuses became inflamed I was unable to wear my lenses as everything round my eyes became sensitive.
Only time I've expereince dizziness is when wearing my glasses for long periods because they are very poor at correcting my vision for my right eye. things get distorted and I have the sensation of motion sickness. Take my glasses of and the problem goes away shortly after.
General rule though, if it is causing you concen give the consultant or your GP a call a they'll be able to tell if the two are related.

Re: Dizziness...
i to have trouble with my contacts and sinus related issues , i find if i have a good day with my sinus's then i in turn have a good day with lens wear!! but on the flip side if my sinus's are giving me trouble then my lens can be very uncomfortable to wear , its got to the point wear i had a septoplasty operation to see if that would cure it but no joy , im soon to see a ear nose and throat specialist again to see what else could be at fault as when your dependant on a lens for eveyday activity the last thing you need is something esle to disturb wear time...i find somtimes when i for example blow my nose i get a "blow back" through my tear duct which is not pleasant and upsets the tear film balance to the point where i cannot wear my lens!!
i do somtimes feel dizzy to some degree which again seems to be related to when my nose trouble is apparent , this too seems to affect me as it upsets my tear film which reduces my vision clarity which can affect your confidence to some degree......

Re: Dizziness...
I get that off-centeredness sensation in the early stages of a migraine. I have wondered whether this might be triggered by asymmetric eyesight?

Hej Dave_86 välkommen till forumet!
"Dryness" is not uncommon with keratoconus. I irrigate my eyes regularly with preservative free Clinitas Soothe, and with the encouragement of another Moderator here (Gareth B, and excellent man from Wales), I drink huge amounts of water each day. I do say 'Water", not coffee, tea, or any other caffeinated drink.
All the best.
How is your keratoconus managed? Do you wear lenses?

Re: Dizziness...
Hi timtim.
I am 24 years old and have been diagnosed with KC an year ago, and the condition is quite serious in my right eye. I must admit I had the same concentration problems and diziness issues in the beginning. It's really annoying but you can learn and cope with it. In the beginning I thought I would even have problems studying. However, with the time I have somewhat ignored it and I'm doing quite well now. I am in the second term of my Master's degree at York and doing great. You just need to acknowledge the problem and learn to deal with it. It's doable. Good luck and wish you well!!

Re: Dizziness...
If you've also experienced problems with your sinuses....have you thought it couldbe something else....vertigo perhaps, or maybe fluid in your inner ear. I have this and the symptoms you describe are very similar..... especially when you say it gets worse when you turn your head...its all to do with balance and your inner ear.... If it carries on...see your GP.
