I've not been around the forum for long, but I can say that Andrew a d Gareth are usually right. Take it one day at a time: you don't know your KC will develop in your other eye, but if it does you'll be equipped better to deal with it. :D

Update

2008 17. Nov - Long-awaited appointment. My last 7 or 8 stitches are removed :D There was 17 stitches together and today surgeon removed last ones. Eye is quite sore, exactly like last time when he removed about 8 stitches (one was removed soon after operation because it was loose). But i think tomorrow I'm able to go work again.

It is almost a year post operation. I don't remember how was my sight before operation. I just remember that it was hazy. During the last year I have to say, there has been no big improvements after operation. I think it is a little better than before, but I expected more.Sight has been variable (mainly still stable), but no big improvements. If i look red LED light or something similar, I see a lot of red points. Now there is no stitches anymore, I just wait how does my cornea settles down and hope the best. Maybe it takes a month, maybe three. So, I'd say interesting times and lets wait how does end, I'd say, first big phase. After that surgeon will consider to correct my vision with classes or laser. He do not prefer lenses (so I).

But the MAIN thing is - no rejection or rejection episodes so far.

Oftan Timolol still 2 times per day, Maxidex 1 time per every second day, since next week 2 times per week.

Next appoitment 16. Dec.

All the best with this: it takes a bit of time for inflammation to subside after the removal of sutures. I guess I was another 12 months before my sight stabilized enough for me to benefit from glasses.

Hang on in there!

Hi there, havent been on the forums for a while, and was just reading through your story there. It was very interesting to read, and hope all goes well! My intraocular pressure is a bit raised too at the moment, so was interesting to read about your experiences.

2008 16. Dec - Appointment. Good news and bad news :? The good news is, that pressure in my left, grafted eye is finally decreased and is normal again (15, last time 22). So I don't have to take Oftan Timolol anymore.

The bad news is, that eye drops (probably Maxidex) is caused a cataract :( That's why my vision is not so good even after removing last stitches. Probably have to make another operation to replace my lens with artifical lens.

Doctor said that about 30% of young people who have to take eye drops so long (a year) experience a cataract. And I'm one of them :( Really hope all goes well. Damn I hate operations.

How is your experience about eye drops caused cataract?

Maxidex 2 times per week, since next year once per week. No pressure drops anymore.

Alvin

Don't worry about the cataract; I got one as a result of prolonged use of steroid eyedrops. They took me in for a half day, operated with me awake so that I could hear all the chit chat in the theatre (the ophthalmologist did not once say 'oops'), and since then my vision has been better than ever.

Once you have had transplant surgery, anything else they can throw at you is, well, easy!

But...can cataract cause a double vision? Well, my vision is even more than double. Or is there something to do with astigmatism?

I think that it is more likely that multiple images are caused by a steep astigmatism than by a cataract.

What does your optometrist say?
