Glasses & LGP

Hi I've browsed this forum a few times, and I find it very understanding and helpful so I'd thought I join.

I've had KC now for over 4 years (that I've known) and I can relate to the tales on here, how people first discovered they had this condition and how it effects their day to day life.
I'm at the stage now where I've been prescribed LGP lenses as my glasses weren't up to the job.
My right eye which was my bad one adapted very well to a RGP lenses.
Actually I'd not seen much out of that eye since I was about 19 (I'm 27 now).
My left eye which had been doing most of the work the best part of my early 20's wouldn't take very well to a RGP lens.
So now my bad right eye is my good eye and without glasses my good left eye is my bad eye.
For the past few months it's been like trying to learn to write with my non writing hand.
I'm now at a stage where I've just been sent a third lenses to try in my left eye, which I'm finding hard to get used to.
It's still not as good as the contact in my right eye and it slides around causing vision to blur in and out of focus.
I still get headaches and I have a hard time concentrating on my work but the Contact in my right eye is better than glasses for my left eye.

What I need is glasses for my left eye and a LGP lenses for my right eye.
Anyone on here have a similar setup? i.e glasses with a clear lens for my right eye.

I am a little confused here!!

You said your right eye adapted well to the RGP? So why would you need to wear a LGP in that eye?

But anyway, its not unusual to wear one contact lens with glasses over the top. Its whatever works for you that is important

Like Lynne I am a little confused by your post, but not to worry.

The simple answer to your question is "yes". I wear glasses with power on the right lens and no power at all on the left. I expect to wear a contact lens in my left eye which will then look out through the "plain glass" lens in my glasses. In my case this is because my two eyes have such different prescriptions that I'd be seeing double if both lenses were loaded into my specs.

So, welcome to the forum and take heart! However odd you may think your situation, there are others in the same boat.

Sorry I've gotten a little confused, where it says LGP it should say RGP.
Seems like you understood me though! LOL.

If the lens in my left eye doesn't settle down, I'll look into getting a pair of glasses to accompany the RGP lens in my right eye.
It's amazing the difference that a little piece of clear plastic has made to my vision in that eye.

Hi again

Right, I've been wearing my old glasses over the Christmas holidays with the right lens taken out and my RGP lens in my right eye.
My vision is vastly improved than wearing both RGPs and over the Christmas holidays I've only needed my glasses for watching TV. otherwise I have to squint slightly.
My vision with my Glasses is clear with a sharp non blurry image. Cool. I'm cured!
That was until I started work.
I had a plain piece of glass fitted to the right eye of my glasses so I wouldn't look stupid at work, and for the first 2 days back I did more work than I did in 1 week before wearing them, until about day 3 where my eyes started to tire.
By fridays It feels like ive done 60 hours work when I've acually only done 35, I could do with the overtime too, but it's too painfull.
I'm thinking it's the glasses that are causing it as it's a different kind of headache that I got before with using a computer screen with just one RGP in my right eye (more of an eye strain now rather than headache before).
My question is, Even though I can see perfectly well could my prescription be wrong on my glasses and cause this symptom?

Hi Alex

What could be wrong is that your eyes are not working together very well or indeed the prescription may be slightly out on your glasses. It does sound likely from what you say. Only way to tell is to get your optician to check it out.
