An optometrist at Manchester Uni is carrying out research into 'The visual performance and aberrations in keratoconus' and is looking for people willing to participate. Volunteers will have a full eye test at the Vision Centre at Manchester Uni, which will take about 1.5 hrs. If you'd like to help with this research, please contact Francisca Ruiz on 07904670113 (please PM me for an e-mail address if you prefer to e-mail her). Her deadline for recruiting subjects is 25th September, so hurry if you'd like to get involved!

Re: KC research at Manchester University
Update - Francisca ideally needs to have names of willing volunteers by the end of August, so please contact her as soon as you can if you're able to help with this research.

Many thanks Chris! I do hope others in the Manchester area will join you in volunteering. Supporting any research into keratoconus is something that's very important for the KC Group. Some of us took part in a research study in London a few years ago and found out a lot more about our own KC as a result! So I'm sure you'll find it worthwhile.

Re: KC research at Manchester University
I went on Thursday and was met in reception by Francisca who's a lovely, bubbly, friendly person.
There was a series of tests - first with lenses in and then lenses out, none were in the least bit painful or uncomfortable - just like a normal (but extended) eye exam, and there was no discomfort at all after. (the only scary bit was walking around an unfamiliar building sans lenses !)
Although Francisca hadn't analysed my results properly before I left, she told me the KC in my left eye was severe- but she didn't think I had KC at all in my right eye just extreme myopia.
