Thanks John, sorry to be critical because I really do appreciate all your hard work but I genuinely find the whole look harder visually

Re: New forum software
Louise,
I really do appreciate that "different strokes for different folks" should certainly be the buzzword here.
If you visit the User Control Panel, you'll find on the "board preferences" tab, a dropdown called "my board style".
At the moment, it only contains the two standard phpBB styles, plus the "redblue_standard" style I've created for the KC forum. Alternative "redblue_large" and "redblue_huge" styles are in development. I'll advise when they're available.
In the meantime, "prosilver" is basically a non-customised version of "redblue_standard", and "subsilver2" is a style very like the old board layout... but not (yet) modified by me for large text etc.

No problem, I've put up a page showing the list of icons. Hope it's useful.

Hi all, just got back from my holiday in the south of france and all has changed!!!
The new site looks great when it comes up correct. but most of the time the pages are coming up with no background and everything is all over the place.
i was really shocked when i started to read this post and most people were saying how much clearer it was
So can anyone help me.
Please remember i am really useless with computers so speak clearly and slowly

Re: New forum software
Hi Anne,
The new forum does indeed look great "when it loads correctly" - and this seems to be the combination of a hardware problem at my end, and your ISP (and to a certain extent, your choice of browser).
Some people have lots of problems, some have none. Many have the occasional glitch.
I am working on the root cause of the issue as I write, so hopefully it will be sorted out fairly soon.
All the best,
John

Re: New forum software
Hi, Im also getting display problems, basic text display after it loads, if I click refresh it looks as it should.
Can you add some new colour schemes/styles/larger fonts to include something like the previous "classic" style or a high contrast style as the current selection of colour schemes and font sizes (even set to largest on my browser) although look good, are not particually suited to a site dedicated to people with vision issues.
Using XP-IE6 if that helps
Thanks

Re: New forum software
K man,
Thanks, that agrees with my own thoughts... The old-style subsilver2 style uses tables for layout; the more modern redblue_standard and prosilver styles are CSS based, which entails your PC downloading two files (one for the style, and the other for the content). As my server isn't always delivering the last few bytes of the file, some ISPs and some browsers are deciding to ignore the style file completely... and you end up with a text-based mess.
Hopefully, the move to a replacement server (hopefully, this weekend) will fix all the problems.

Will be doing exactly that; once the current issues are sorted out.

Re: New forum software
It sounds like you have a timing issues, with the page loading before the style sheet. If you could get the style sheet to load first, the the page data to load after the it might help, but not sure how to do this. I will look in to it.
