Wow thats crazy the thought of doing that many hours waiting for a op then being told they want to cut your eye under a local

You best call Moorfields and tell them what they did

From what you wrote they could be in trouble

That does sound really unfair. I really feel for you.
Having a graft is a big thing and being already and then not having it done is awfull i can understand why you are fed up.
Not sure what you can do to change it but there must be a complaints procedure that you can follow.
A similar thing happened to me when i was waiting for my daughter who was then 3 to have her tonsills removed. she was booked in for the morning but the surgeon then decided to take all the older patients down for there ops first!!! she was so badly dehydrated and hungry in the end she couldn't get off the bed and they had to put her on a drip!!!!!! I went mad. she finally had her opp at 5 in the afternoon. Its not good enough is it.

Hope you get it sorted soon and when you get to have your op i hope all goes well.

Take care
Anne

It's now all the waiting again the build up to September I was so nervous whilst waiting from 11.45 when they said 13.30pm I would go in over 6 hours of being on edge and then it's cancelled.

I am going to call the hospital and just let them know if they do anything or not maybe they can make sure someone else does not have this done to them.

And the thought of having it under a Local when I signed the consent for a general can't be right.

I am angry now I wish I had the energy then to say something.

I would phone the hospital and let them know how angry and fed up you are.
Like you with my daughter i didn't have the energy to make a complait although they asked if i wanted to. I just wanted to get out of there a quickly as possible. but i should of made a complaint.

Livstrong.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

Your first port of call is to discuss this matter with the head of optemtry and there should be a complaints procedure they can advise you on.

Contact the citizens advice too and make your concerns/complaint known to the hospital.

It is best if all things are done in writting so you have a record.

Regards

Gareth

Sorry to hear of your poor experience.

I would speak to the PALS (Patient Advice and Liason Service) at Moorfields as they are there to deal, inpartially, with all aspects of patient care and services. Although employed by the trust, they are independent of any department or medical staff.

Their contact details are:

Phone: 020 7566 2324 or 020 7566 2325 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday
Email: pals@moorfields.nhs.uk

My local PALS team helped me out a lot last year.
