Liz Mair the Scotish group organiser used to do gymnastics, but I don't think she views the chit chat area.

Hi Stace
Apart from now being far too old, I'm no gymnast I'm afraid - (if you'd met me you'd soon know why  !!) but my (late) mum used to represent her county (Middlesex I think) at National level back in the early 30's. I've got her trophies still.

Keep at it - it's a lovely sport!

kl! i have represented my county and won a national title. The sport tends to push you to all limits both mentally and physical but i love going! hopefully i'll keep going for a few years to come. :P

My sons used to gymnastics, my eldest after four weeks of doing rec was selected for team gym and trampolining. He really enjoyed it and excelled. He was obviousley the only one doing his conditioning every night as he was the only one with a stomach like a wash board pecs and six pack included. However this was costing fifty pound a month. the teamgym girls started doing comps but not the boys. We asked when they would and if he could progress to the next stage ie the elites as he was doing so well. But they said no they said he was to old to progress, and would never do any more then what he was. This made me angry So we pulled him out. He now does ballet, tap, modern, contempoary, street/hip hop dancing drama, stretch and private singing lessons. he is being trained by the best in the buisness who are still young working professionals (west end/cruise ships, writers etc) at eleven they have said he has an amazing talent, he could be up for a scholarship in london. He had a show sat and the crowd loved him ! So in a way i dont mind about the gym, because i think he has the opportunity to do so much more.
Although i will say i think the gymnastics prepared him well, and he still does conditioning every night
