I am so glad that intacs went so well for you! I only have the best words to express my thanks to Daya for my DALK. He is really amazing and the staff at East Grinstead are so patient and caring!

I have researched a little about the clinic and the reports are fairly impressive... therefore I would probably trust them for my INTACs implant.

Just another question dpless if you don't mind. What was your vision before the op and now? I think driving standard is 20/40... is that right?

I'm not sure what my vision was pre op, all I know is that i would have struggled to see a number plate more than 10 feet away

UK driving standard is 6/12 (20/40 on the old scale).

Does anyone know why they reduced the requiremet from 20.5 metres to 20 metres?

I know that my sight is good enough to see a numer plate at 26 metres (I measured it yesterday). That is without my glasses, with them I can see a number plate much further away, but I have never bothered to measure that distance.

All i have to do now is wait for the DVLA to get round to opening my application for the restoration of my license. In the meantime I am quite used to taking the bus or the train. 8)

Oh, one other thing. Does anyone know the limit for driving with light excluders? Is it 15%? And, am I legal to drive with anti-glare on my specs?

Andrew,

Need to check the highway code, but old style number plates like my capri can be read at 20.5 meters, the newer number plates are a slightly different font so are read at 20 meters I think. Then there are smaller fonts usualy resurved for motorbike number plates which are read from a closer distance.

Anti glare on normal glasses are perfectly legal for driving, but light excluders are not suitable for night driving. They may take away the glare from headlights, but mean you see nothing in the darker areas of the road.

That is my understanding from when I was training to be a driving instructor.

Somebody complimented me on my driving yesterday - they left a note on my windscreen "Parking Fine" which was nice.
KC managed with softperm lens in left eye, Intacs (2/11/07) in right eye
