Hi! At the last Midlands Group meeting in Birmingham there was mention of future C3-R trials starting at Birmingham & Midland Eye Centre. Does anyone have any more information? ... when is it starting, do you need to be on their books to be included in the trials? ... &c.
Thanks.
Ann
C3-R trials

Hi Ann,
Good to hear a trail will being coming to a place near you!
It is strict, as you need to be with-in the remit, which is, thick enough in cornea, and if your progressing, including other things are considered, like if your able to follow the post recovery eye drops for example.
A trail will have to be scientific, so the person being selected will need to pull a ball out of a bag, which will randomly determine which eye they will use the treatment for and then watch to see if the other eye progress's as a marker. You can have the other eye done after the trail is over, which would be in a year or so of starting it.
I would say if your in the mild stages then think about crosslinking, however if you can wait until your own Dr advices you to have it done, then that is the best thing to do.
Keep us posted!

Information please
Hello all, I'm a new member to the KC Support Group and am unfarmiliar with some of the terminoligy - can someone advise please...
What is a C3-R trial? Should I be interested as I live in Birmingham?
What is crosslinking?
At the mo my KC is only mild and only affects my right eye. I am currently using a Kerasoft lens which is working quite well (be it for limited wear periods 2-3 hours).
Thanks

Sorry all, had internet access problems.
Did take notes at Brimingham meet but not posed anyas we are working on an Health & Safety booklet and we need to ensure the infomation contained is legally correct which is the main reason for not posting the info.
Ann, you probably should call Marian Bargery as she has many contacts at the Birmingham hospita, so may be able to advise on who to speak to there.
