ooh, where can I see your diary :D

I'm rather shocked though, I didn't realise that the not opening the eye was common.

I had 8 days of not being able to open mine and I thought I was most odd. I was thus naturally rather pleased when I finally started using it.

i've never got round to posting them anywhere chris, but when do i will let u know.

i only couldnt open it cause of the leak. It was a week before i went back to hospital....i didnt know anything was wrong - my friends sis a nurse - she had spoke to someone about what i was feeling - was recommended i went and got it seen to asap. I was told my eye was on verge of collapsing

Was then left more or less another week to see if healed with a bandage lens, but it didnt so then got another stitch.

So that was about 3 weeks. Got check up tomorrow so fingers crossed all is well.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you tomorrow.

The leak sounds nasty and such an unfortunate thing to have. Here's hoping that from now on your recovery goes alot smoother.

I'll keep my eye on for when you put your pictures online. Somehow looking at someone elses eye seems alot more attractive than staring at my own.

Back from my 2 week post graph check up. :D

Dr says the eye is doing well and to continue on the eye drops 4 times a day for the next month.

Can just about make out the blurred top letter on the chart, but with pin holes I can just about make out the first four lines. :D

At this rate I'll be signed off within 6 months.

I must however call the hospital tomorrow, as the dr wanted to see me in 4 weeks. When making the appointment they were pretty full and had trouble fitting me in. I was happy to wait a little longer to make things easier but have just noticed my appointment is for 7 weeks time.

That's probably too long under the circumstances so I'll rebook tomorrow and hope I haven't inconvenienced the nice nurse too much.

Thanks :D

I wouldn't call if I were further into my recovery. But to fair I want to cut down on these drops as soon as possible. :D

I'd like to claim I am not on a mission and am being patient with my recovery, but the fact I have a printed Snellen chart above my computer suggests otherwise.

hi chris
well done on your early progress
remember though that it is early yet and as eager as i am sure you are dont overdo yourself, from my understanding so far this is a major procedure we have to go through and its a miracle that they can do it at all thank god they can :P but patience is a virtue so i am told  and hopefully patience will stand you in good stead.
besides that though i am following your progress very closely and with great instance as i am sure your experiences will help me to get to grips with my impending transplant.
keep up the great work
mike
onwards and upwards

Good progress so far mate. Hope it continues!

Thanks Jay and Mike, I do try to take things easy but I must admit its very easy to forget I've had a graft at times.

Now I'm at the 3 week mark my eye remains open and functioning most of the time. There are still occassions when it aches and I have to rest it, but these are becoming rarer. It is looking much clearer and not as red first thing in the morning.

Vision continues to slowly improve as I am noticing more detail. At this stage I must admit to feeling very lucky, with this though is a touch of sadness and perhaps even guilt when I read some haven't been so fortunate.

I do understand though that I shouldn't count my chickens just yet though as I'm still in the early stages of recovery.

Chris,

Glad to read that you are doing well! Time is a brilliant healer and you will soon forget having a graft done! Hehe I do that quite often now that all the stitches have been removed!!

Wishing you all the best! :D
