Good afternoon all.
Pre op assessment revealed a 50/50 chance of having a partial graft, but my lucky streak came to a temporary halt as I ended up with a penetrating keratoplasty.
The day after my graft and I'm back from my first check up.
Dr says it looks good, I passed the 'how many fingers am I holding up test'

but when asked if I could see any letters on the chart I couldn't even find the chart
Still early days, the general anesthetic really wiped me out yesterday. I woke up feeling nauseous and my eye was originally slightly painful. Both passed fairly quickly though and
I returned from the hospital and just slept most of the day and night away.
I was glad to get the patch off this morning, but find it is uncomfortable to keep my eye open for any amount of time. It is very red and very watery but not overly painful. It does feel odd and doesn't like too much light, so for the time being I'm wearing shades but keeping my eye closed most of the time.
I don't have to return for another check up until 2 weeks today. I'm not sure if that's a good sign or whether the good doctor is just fed up with my poor humour.

In the mean time I shall be taking 4 drops of maxitrol a day.
I must add that I received great care at the Kent and Canterbury both yesterday and today.
Well my five minutes are up, time for another cup of green tea.
