Hi Adam,

Eye drops i know have a four week expiry date after you have opened it. This is to try to keep it clean and reduce the risk of it getting contaminated which could be introduced into the eye.

For eye solutions i think that the same does apply though most people find that they use them quickly anyway. I am not sure how soon it is advised to use them but i use my soft lens solution very slowly as it is a huge bottle! I just make sure to store it in a clean environment and always put the lid on securely.

Hope that helps.

The expirey date is on there because they can guarentee if used corretly they will last for that period.

After that time there is a risk the solution has degraded so not performing its function correctly.

If it is a sterilising solution, it may stop working properly so leaving you more seceptable to an eye infection.

It is always best practice to bin any solutions that are at or beyone the expiration date.

Hhmm it's not the expiry date, it's how long it lasts when you have opened it!?!

Some bottles have two dates;

Expirey

and/or Do not use x days/month after opening.

I write date opend followed by use by date.

The whichever date is reached first is when they get checked.

Be gentle Sweet, just back from work and been Karting for most the day, so no lenses now and I'm in pain.

Remember I am dyslexi so put that with inability to see what do you expect :?
