Well, I'm still only managing about 2-3 hours a day at most by which time I have had enough. Comfort levels not improved at all - but the good news is I have managed to get a Moorfields appointment for 15 Feb - which is a lot sooner than 26 March! I'll keep on trying with the lens but not holding out a lot of hope at the moment...getting a bit fed up now as I was supposed to be going back to work next week after almost 6 months off. Not sure whether that will be on the cards or not now.

Definitely go armed with info... don't rely on them to know all the various lens options out there.
Softperm and KeraSoft are two options that immediately come to mind (especially for less severe cases).

Decided to carry on this thread rather than start a new one, following my Moorfields trip today.
A bit of a success story I hope!!
I am so impressed with the optom I saw today - she gave me about 90+ minutes chair time and listened to me carefully! She took one look when I walked in with my offending lens in and commented that "well that doesn't look very happy!"
She declared that the fit of the original RGP was not good, and that it was "lifting" from the eye and thus catching on the eyelid. After trying umpteen different lenses, she put one in and asked me to look at the chart - I asked "but you haven't put the lens in yet have you " - but she had. I could not feel it at all! It was a larger diameter lens than before and with a slightly thinner edge. I was so amazed at being able to see and not feel this lens at all, I forgot to ask her what it was! However, I do know that it was a Jack Allen lens.
It'll take a couple of weeks to come through but for the first time I actually feel positive about being able to see better! She also suggested that if, at the end it is still uncomfortable, she will explore piggy backing with me at my next visit. As I am used to soft lenses anyway, she felt this would be the next step to try. She also mentioned that my eye was incredibly dry, producing virtually no tears at all (other than the ones that fall down my cheek!) Suggested Systane or Celluvisc before lens inseretion and then use blink or similar throughout the day at regular intervals.
So, a happier Pat than I have been of late. Just marred by the meeting I had with my manager and HR this morning......but that is for another post !

Good to hear that the hospital appointment went well. Sorry to hear that the works appointment was not so good. Email or give me a call. Whilst I would like to suggest different you may well find this one a bit of an uphill battle, just remember you are not the one with the issue, they are!
