Hi all,
firstly i would just like to say what a brilliant ste this is, im learning so much about our condition and is exciting to hear everyone's experiences.
i was first diagnosed in my early teens, im now 27 and have generally done well with my rgp lenses. My first experiences of the lenses were horrible but i slowly got used to the idea and now, well quite frankly, cant survive without them. the lenses im wearing now, ive had for approximately 7 years.
i have been treated at moorfleid eye hospital, but since they have fitted these lenses, i havent been able to get on with any other lens they've tried to fit. my recent experiences with moorfields havent been to wonderful so now im thinking of trying another, maybe private clinic for better fitting.
i would just like to know if anyone can recomend anywhere to me or if they beleive that i should continue with the hospital.
any advise would be much appreciated.
i hope you are all well and that the new year has been good to you so far and continues to do so.
Rohit
Where is the best place for treatment and rgp fitting?

Hi Rohit,
Welcome to the forum.
What lenses have Moorfileds tried you with so far?
Stole this link from Lynn (resident optom post)
KC friendly oproms which may help you with finding someone else.

Hi Rohit,
Personally speaking I would stay with Moorfields. They have been seeing me since 1996 have have managed to provide lenses with excellent vision.
Oh, there have been bad times. A change of manufacturer, a few years ago, for my lenses, to the same prescription, caused the right eyes great problems. But a few lenses later they found a better one.
It will take time but their optometrists are fitting lots of difficult cases all the time so hopefully they will be able to find a lens for you.

Rohit...
Gareth beat me to it with the Optom friendly list. These are practitioners who welcome KC fittings and so are worth looking at for a second opinion... some clinics have resident ophthalmologists as well - especially in London.
Also there is the Institute of Optometry in London (see the same list) where there are some very experienced fitters.
At the very least, if they can do no better than Moorfields then you have satisfied yourself that you explored every possibility.
Have a look at the links on the optoms friendly list - I have put as many contact details as possible so you can email or ring them to get more information.

I understand from Lynn that in Scotland we are uniquely well served, but my own experience has always been that the NHS clinics that are offered, sometimes in hospitals and sometimes on hospital contracts with high street optometrists, have provided an excellent service.
A friend in Glasgow speaks very highly of the experience he had when he went to the professorial unit at the University Department of Optometry (part of the School of Life Sciences at Glasgow Caledonian University).
I guess that most big University Towns must have a similar service available.
