KC - Can this possibly be true?

As I have already said, we really should put this thread to bed.
I think my brother meant well but totally got the wrong end of the stick.
He was so keen to help me that he offered to pay the consultant's fee if I went to see her.
He has his own visual problems which he has now found cannot be solved and I suspect his mind wasn't completely on the conversation, so everybody let's close this down - but thanks for your input.

I think you were correct to bring it up and if Lynn has a quite word just to understand the context the comments were made would be helpful.
We need to know if consultants are making statement that are well meaning but result in misleading the patient so as a support group we can over come these issues and help imporve patient care.
