KC - Can this possibly be true?

what is 20/20 vision?? had my eye checked today after intac and it is 6/5 from 6/60 previously and vision is really good. how does this equate to 20/20???

OK 20/20 is the American version of our Snellen definition. It really means "normal vision". Our equivilent in metric is 6/6. If you get 6/5 this means you are getting one line better than accepted "normal vision" which any anyone standards is very good!

As I have already said, we really should put this thread to bed.

I think my brother meant well but totally got the wrong end of the stick.

He was so keen to help me that he offered to pay the consultant's fee if I went to see her.

He has his own visual problems which he has now found cannot be solved and I suspect his mind wasn't completely on the conversation, so everybody let's close this down - but thanks for your input.

I am very sorry for any upset that I may have caused with this subject

I dont think you have upset anyone...I think we just think it was believable based on alot of misconceptions around similar issues on KC ;-)

Michael,

I think you were correct to bring it up and if Lynn has a quite word just to understand the context the comments were made would be helpful.

We need to know if consultants are making statement that are well meaning but result in misleading the patient so as a support group we can over come these issues and help imporve patient care.

I think perhaps I will speak to my brother again about this when I next see him.

Meanwhile I think it would be wrong to jump to conclusions based on what may or may not have been said to him.

I beleive it was Dennis Thatcher whe said "it is better to keep one's mouth shut and appear foolish than to open it and prove it" or something along those lines anyway.

A friend of mine has been known to say that she only opens her mouth to change feet :D
