Sweet,

My eye were bad that day, I had to take one lens out before we left and the other eye was not good which meant I had to take the other lens out as soon as we got there. I have an excuse, I have KC and could not see

What's yours?

Pat; Are we fluufy cat and jumper free today?

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the soft lenses Sweet. I find soft lenses can be a little unpredictable, one day they will go in and won't bother me all day whilst some days you can put them in and it's as if they want to scratch your eyes out. The worse thing I find about soft lenses has to be when I remove them and it feels like I've taken some eye tissue away with it.

Gareth your post made me laugh. I have had several occasions when I have gone out drinking with friends and my lenses have had to come out before I've even got to the pub. I used to blame the fumes from the after shave I use for making the lenses go funny. ( I wonder if there is anything in that theory.)

Again I just want to say how amazing it is to hear all your KC stories. I no longer feel alone in this blurred world of mine.

Sweet

i admire you for trying with soft lenses. I couldn't cope with them, but for those who manage they seem to be a grat benefit.

Matthew,

There is something in your theory, it is the alcohol and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's) that agrevate the lens.

That is why in the laboratory I work in soft lenses are banned. When I got my lenses a few years ago we were worried that RGP's would not be suitable, but working closely with occupational health I found some decent safety glasses that do the job.

Solvent and soft lenses do not go, it makes the lenses dry out and clamp in the most painful way because they start to suck moisture out of the cornea, hard lenses do not do that quite so much.

Unfortunatly piggy back would be a distinct NO NO in my workplace.
