I was paying attention, but I missed the link between Duck and Fire. Is is "Fire" as in "shoot"?

I like Gareth's Chocolate after Fire, I think the metaphor "as much use as a Chocolate Fireguard" is one of the crowning glories of 20th century English idioms. it took a Welshman to spot it!
