Gareth

If you enter the car on the circuit - it might get dirty. You will need to have two - one to drive and one to polish. if you get a new one, and don't drive it, it will stay pretty clean :D

Happy to help

Brigid,

If I had a spare £20K I would buy my frineds Escort Cosworth and use that to race just to keep the Capri clean.

Jay,

An average condition Escort Cossie will set you back £15K.

My friends is chipped to 290bhp from 220, stainless exhaust and uprated turbo actuator.

The club and insurers have valued the car at £20K.

I sold mine cheap to get rid of it 2 years back and that went within 2 days at £16,500 with 60K on the clock, fully standard, factory extras were aircon, didn't even have the sought after leather like my friends.

So his car is reasonable priced.

Jay,

If I posted how I realy felt about the modern European Fords, the filth filter would work overtime :D

The Ford range just do not stand out like they used too.

Modern E***pean F**ds are b**lt for the m**s m***et.

I didn't trust John's filter to put the stars in the right places so I did them myself.

Gareth,
This is Capri thing, right?
My brother-in-law and a colleague both own capris and clean them to within an inch of lives then go off to various competitions, or at least did a few years ago. Crrrraaazzzy!
Capris are good looking cars though to be fair. An un-improved capri used to ahve a nasty habit of getting you in trouble, particularly the back-end or maybe that was my driving?
I used to have an old Escort Mark I (P reg). I wish I had kept, it would maybe be a classic? (Not Sure).
Now I have a knackered Saab. Great in its day (185 bhp Turbo). Not anything like what you have been discussing but a comforting turn of speed. Now its a bit rusty, a bit scratched, the power steerings is done in and it smells a bit inside. More importantly at 27 mph its time for a diesel estate! Since I am looking for a new Newfoundland puppy next year, its going to need a big boot!!!
Congrats on your award, the car is a real credit to you, Gareth.

Matthew

You ough to know that Gareth is very serious about his Capri. It is a clean car!

Modern fords, though, are built for the mass market.

Matthew,

It is only because I can not race at the moment.

Your Escort is aclassic now and P reg is a Mk 2  My 1 was 1968 - 74 Mk2 was 1974 - 80 or 81ish.

I had a SAAB 9000CSE until the aircon compressor caught fire. When saved enough money I will get another one, diesel 9-5.
Gareth
