It was well put together and i knew it would be different to Dr Who.

That said, it is not the normal programme I would watch normally and Torchwood just did not hold my interest.

Andrew,

Thanks for spotting the "hand" thing. I did too, but everyone else at work is telling me not to be so stupid. They think it's "just an alien hand". They're right of course, except that we suspect that we know the alien!

Matthew,

It's repeated on Wednesday on BBC2, and on Friday (in two chunks) on BBC3.

Michael,

I'd say that Torchwood has the same glossy quality as Spooks (and maybe even Hustle). British quality drama. Well-acted, well-directed, well-lit, sets that don't wobble and fairly fast-paced.

Don't worry about the references that you don't get. I suspect that none of them will matter; but that someone will post them here anyway.

That reminds me: Louise? Where are you?
John

She went to Cardiff and is currently standing on the pavement where you go invisible and leaping out at unsuspecting passers by shouting BOOOO

Brigid, of course I haven't really grown up, at least that's what my wife keeps telling me  .

John, I am recording Torchwood tonight so I'll let you know what I think when I get round to watching it.

It was on but I wasn't feeling too good on Sunday  so didn't really take it in. We have it saved on the Sky+ for my son , he lives in Dublin and can't get it, so I can watch it properly now I'm more with it!

I like the idea of jumping off the invisible kerbstone and scaring people, just right for hallowe'en. :D :D Perhaps I'll go and join Louise

Oh and Captain Jack's pretty hot too. :D

Lesley.

Ok I have now seen the first two episodes of Torchwood. It's not bad but imho it aint that great either. I'll stick with it for the moment but I am not sure if I will last the distance.

So who saw episode three then? It does seem to have settled down a bit.

Yes, there was an "adult" element, as a criminal being perused was a rapist, and that scene at the end (not posting a spoiler!), but I didn't notice any bad language, or any pre-pubescent titilation this time round.

Interesting plot device, too!

I haven't seen episode three yet as last night I attended a memorial concert for the 70th anniversary of the Spanish Civil War. The veterans society is much smaller than it once was as there is only one gentleman left from the Manchester contingent. It was very moving - an evening of poetry and song (including Billy Bragg)

So I am waiting for one of the repeat showings of torchwood. Will comment further then!

Brigid
