Thanks for the advice on diet ec. I already have a diet rich in Omega 6 .. I eat lots of oily fish and I do take fish oil supplements.

I'll pop in and ask the health food shop if they have the things you suggest.

Today I saw my cataract. They were doing an eye test and we got to the pin hole vision bit. There, as I looked through the pin hole and exactly in the centre of my vision there was a little patch that looked like a fern-pattern doily.

The ophthalmologist is going to leave it alone for now . better news on a new string I have just initiated.

sorry to hear your bit of bad news i too found out that i had cataract in right eye post graft, i had the graft done in 2000, my surgeon hadnt spotted it, or if he had he wastn letting on, due to rejection complications i had a second opinion at moorfields this is where i learnt i had a cataract, developed due to truama from surgery and steriods to combact the rejection, i have to wear glasses or i am nearly as blind as a bat, but touch wood so far the cataract hasnt ripened, but will most likely need it removed at some stage, my sight is not that great not sure whether thats down to cataract, havent been told it is,

Thank you for sharing your experience. It seems that this is a fairly common result of the trauma of surgery. It is just a perfect nuisance. I had hoped that I'd be told to discontinue steroids, but the ophthalmologist still thinks that their merits outweigh their contraindications.

So we struggle on. At least I ought soon to have sight in my left eye to compensate for the lace doily through which I am looking in my right eye.

Let us know how you get on. Youre scperience will equip others (including me) to ask pertinent questions when we go for routine appointments

It looks pretty hopeful for people in our situation. Also, I have had some Private Messages from people who have had cataract surgery after a PK. They report that their new toric lens is in place and providing good sight.

Problem is that they seem to like to wait until the cataract is very mature before operating; like waiting for a stilton to ripen before you cut into the creamy cheese, subtly veined with blue mould and with a taste that still retains the subtle hint of pear behind the rich saltiness of the well turned trucle.

Okay I'll never make it as a food writer.

It was my fault. The surgeon said that they would wait for the cataract to ripen. I said, "Like a cheese". He said "Like a cataract".
