Speaking of bunkers I played golf this evening and found one bunker after the other :( .

That wasn't quite what I had in mind.

I think my genie misunderstood what I was trying to say.

sandi have I missed something. Your anniversary?

Or is it 50 years since your team last won something!!!

It was my 19th wedding anniversary.......and yes, my husband does deserve some sort of award for putting up with me for all that time!!

How clever of you to find all the bunkers, that must have taken such skill!

Enjoyed the England game last night......great to see El Tel back in the England set up.

Thanks Sandi, I am sure if I was a little younger, a little fitter and had about million times more talent I could really have Eldrick worried (that's Tiger's real name in case you didn't know).

Gareth, I think the same comment applies to tennis although this actually was a sport I was quite good at.

Many years ago I actually played on courts 6 and 11 at Wimbledon whilst trying to be selected for a county standard team. Needless to say I wasn't selected :(

Michael

Do they hide bunkers on your golf course? Any course I have ever played had them in full view! No trouble getting the little ball to fall into them for me.

Then I got to the point where I just could not see the little ball at the end of my club, or the clubhead, or my grip, or my hands for that matter. Now I'd need to keep changing my specs so my playing golf is too much of an adventure for everybody else on the course. I'd not so much have to shout "four" as "fire in the hole".

Actually my best game was always on the green. If I couldn't actually sink the ball from where it lay, I could always find an easy place from which to pot it next time.

Getting to the green, that was a different matter.

I only played golf once, it was in Florida, I was seriously rubbish. I thought it was amusing that you just didn't retrieve your ball if it went into the rough or in the water, far too dangerous, as it was a pigmy rattlesnake fell out of a tree and right in front of a friend trying to take a shot. I have never tried again but mainly because I couldn't hit a barn door with a shovel, nothing to do with KC just useless! Image

Matthew, you may have been rubbish first time but then so are most of us. Have a few lessons and play a bit and you will become less rubbish - I hope!

Andrew, Our bunkers are highly visible. I take comfort from the fact that even Tiger will occasionally find his way into one. Of course he will then either sink the bunker shot or leave it stone dead.

Fortunately I can usually still see the ball up to about 60 to 100 yards away after I have hit it.

I think the worst thing for me is the walk after my shot. Was it a good or bad shot. I often won't know that until I am within 20 yards of the ball (assuming I have walked in the right direction). Quite often I have discovered I have been looking on the wrong side because my ball faded or hooked and that was after it was out of sight.

My playing partners are usually pretty good but they can't watch me all the time and of course now and again they are preoccupied and that is when I will lose a ball.

However, I can still play and am grateful for that.
