Cheltenham - corneal graft

Postby Tim Payne » Tue 15 Aug 2006 1:04 pm

New to website today - would like to know if anyone has any experience of Cheltenham Hospital. I'm due to have a corneal graft at Cheltenham next month and would like to hear of any +ve or -ve experiences of KC related treatment at the hospital. The op has always seemed a long way away but now its only a few weeks away it's all getting a bit scary. :? ... Tim.

Tim

Welcome to the forum. I'm afraid I am at the other end of the country, so have no experience of the hospital at Cheltenham, but I do wish you well with your surgery next month

Yours aye

Andrew

Hi Tim,

Welcome to the forum.

No experience of the Cheltenham hospital, not even from my days working for British Coal as was at Bishops Cleeve. My KC never gave me enough grief to visit them.

As far as the surgery goes, we all wish you the best and the surgery is nowhere as scary as you think.

Ask loads of questions so you know what is happening.

Regards

Gareth

Hi Tim

I can't report on Cheltenham myself, I'd love to hear how you get on as I am considering grafting at the mo and guess being a gloster lad that would be where it would be done.

Good luck

Drew

Cheltenham - corneal graft

Postby Bobby Blue » Mon 04 Sep 2006 8:33 pm

Tim - I had a graft in Cheltenham gneral in Jan'05 with Mr Mackintosh being the operating surgeon.
My experience was that the operation was carried out and I was well looked after.
So rest assured you are in safe hands.
I am now in the post operative period with stitches just having been removed. Its been hard and there have been complications and at times I 've wondered in the wisdom of having the operation but you must stay positive if the graft is your only option.

Welcome Bobby.

I hope as the healing process continues you get the benefits from the graft you want.

Bobby,

Good to hear you were well looked after at Cheltenham, Mr M is doing my operation, so I'm sure I'm in good hands. Did you have a DALK ??

Hope everything continues to go OK with you.

Thanks Tim.
