Anyone from the South West?

Postby John Smith » Thu 27 Jul 2006 4:56 pm

Hi all,

I'm due to have my second graft on August 11th, and will be spending a week at home. Then, I'm off to spend a week in South-West Devon (Newton Ferrers).

I'm trying to find the details of the nearest eye casualty unit to where I'm staying "just in case". Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance,

John

John,
I don't know the definitive answer to this but there are big hospitals at Plymouth, Newton Abbot, Torquay and Exeter. I would guess one of these is likely to have an eye casualty.

Just spoke to my Dad, He runs a charity Called Compass Braille near Newton Abbot. He said that Exeter would be your best bet. But he is not 100% sure.

Thanks to Matt and Anne. I'll assume it's Exeter then... but may try Plymouth first as it's only about 5 miles from where we're staying!

Anne, say thanks to your Dad, too.

Ooh, aren't you lot wonderful!

I've now had a PM advising me that there is an eye infirmary in Plymouth with a 24-hour A&E unit.

Lovely, thanks.

The Eye infirmary in plymouth is in a completely separate unit near the city centre - the address is Apsley Road Plymouth PL4 6PL.

If you need it the best way is to follow the signs for the train station as its close by.

The casualty unit do ask people to phone ahead before they come in the number is 01752 315125.

Have a great holiday - Newton Ferrers is lovely :)
