Hi Brigid

Don't worry, I'll keep well clear of the pedaloes.

I've actually ordered a pair of shades from the RNIB as recommended by Andrew (thank you Andrew) but I suspect the expession "shades" will be a little too cool a description of them!

Michael

Your instincts serve you well, grasshopper! The RNIB light excluders are not really "shades", they are far more serious than that!

Too bad that the French still put invisible little walls in exactly the place that people used to driving cars whose controls are on the opposite side of the car will want to drive. This is why they invented Visa, Matercard and American Express.

André :D

What a good idea. I meant Mastercard, but it does occur to me that Eurocard ought to have been added to my little list, diners card, switch, solo ...

Well I don't know about Eurocard but Eurocar will be charging me Eur900 for the excess .

Great I thought, i was given a free upgrade, A renault Laguna instead of a Megane. The trouble is the excess was also upgraded from EUR400!

Unfortunately amongst all the mini disasters I seem to be having I have also forgotten to bring my blood pressure tablets. I suspect my bp was sky high the other night.

Still it has confirmed that my tablets are not interfering with my vision. I know what you are thinking but that damn wall was one of a number of hazards awaiting the unwary trying to exit the driveway. It was simply the wall that got me.

Michael

Broken cars are not the end of the world. Eur 900 is an expensive way to take a vacation, but you are still on holiday. You can pay it all back after.

Meantime, enjoy the resto of your vacation.

All the best

Seems my option of staying home and throwing the Capri round a circuit for the afternoon was far safer :D

For the parade section I had my daughetr strapped in the back, we lined up on the start line behind Tiff Needel off the telly who had taken a particular interest in my car earlier :D

Turn round and my daughter is nodding off, shook her awake just as we set off and by the first corner I could see in the mirror the eye lids drooping, by the chicane she was well asleep.

She slept so well, I had to miss one session as I did not want to distrub her sleep and you can not race with a passenegr under 16 years!

Oh was she grumpy when she found she slept through the whole thing

Back home, doh!

Two hour delay at Nice for the flight home. There were general delays but our American pilot was incredibly honest and chatty and he advised us that for some reason Easyjet chose to put our flight to the back of the queue :x

However towards the end of the flight he told us that he had been speaking to an air traffic controller with a lovely voice and had persuaded her not to put us into the stacking system thereby saving us 15 minutes. I immediately forgave him for constantly calling us folks :) .

I'm melting here. I had air conditioning, swimming pool, etc. Truly wonderful.

The excess for my little prang will be EUR690 which is better than the EUR900 which I thought it would be.
