Car air conditioning???

Hi all, how are you?

I haven't been on here for a few weeks as I have been sunning myself down in France's Vendee.

Lovely area, got a bit too hot for me really, up to 37 degrees on several ocassions, but the pool was cool.

Coped pretty well with lenses in and around pool and on beach, just have to think a lot and be sensible, the one problem I did have was when driving.

Obviously we had the air conditioning on in the car, which dried my eyes out super-fast.

It was a real problem and I ended up with really painful dry eyes, and on a six-seven hour car drive, that's no fun, trust me.

I found that keeping really well hydrated helped, constantly slugging from my bottle of water, and even keeping the windows open just a bit helped. Yes this did make the car hotter, but frankly this was by far the lesser of two evils.

Has anyone else had this problem and or come up with any solutions??

One solution I have tried and it seemed to work was to get one of those air vent clip on air freshners and empty the contents and fill the bottle with water and leave the top off it.

On wet days it did fog the windows up a wee bit.

Not sure it would work on all cars. Climate controle is better as it has an economy mode where by not all the cooling is done by the aircon unless it is really hot.

You must have deeper cup holders than me.

My car would spey water everywhere if I used mine.

Could always get a Beetle with its built in vase.

Or you could attach the water bottle to your body with a long bendy straw going from your waist around your ear into your mouth

Thats called drinking not raising the cars humidity.

I always struggle with cars and even normal air circulation (as well as air conditioning). I find the best way is to switch it ALL off and open the windows...and then if stuck in a jam...put the air conditioning on for a bit until it starts to bug me.
It never used to bother me...my eyes are much more sensitive these days

I find with opening the windows I feel the wind under my right lens and with so much dust around modern roads I soon end up with a lump of grit under a lens.

i know the feeling....if your car has a fresh air vent switch as well as aircon it helps to have the both going at the same time..the aircon isnt quite as cool but the air from outside adds abit of moisture to the cars cabin...dont have the air circulation set to re-circulate..just blows arround stale dry air....not nice on long journeys..lol
