Wow...wasn't expecting that

Postby Paul Morgan » Tue 04 Apr 2006 3:32 pm

I just had the strangest thing happen to me.

Working away (as you do), and blinked (as you do), when to my horror, both my lenses popped out of my eyes at the same time.

Much mirth from my 'understanding' coleagues.

I managed to find both, sorted our the L from the R, cleaned them up and put them back in undamaged....phew.

I've had the odd lens pop out before but never both at the same time.....horrendous!

Paul

That has to be a record. I often had lenses shoot across my desk, but only one at a time!

What were you doing?

Maybe a visit to the optometrist is indicated. I think tht the idea is that lenses are supposed to stay in, and when they start coming out by themselves it is probably a good idea to have the fit checked.

Hehe.. for that to happen you were probably dryng out (eyes I mean :) )Also its possible you weren't blinking enough. Get it checked out if it happens again!

had a pat on the back in the late 80s

Both lenses 'flew' straight out.

I wish I coud get them out that easliy normally especially when they 'suction' to the eye. Literally someone patted me on the back and both lenses flew out.

Flying lenses. Were your eyes dry (as Lynn suggests)?

I only occasionally had trouble with lenses suckering to my eye, Had to completely drench the eye and then press (through the eyelit) on the surfact of the eye to break the sub lens vacuum. Didn't like that bit much.

the rest of the time they would just blink out quite easily.

I have to say I'm quite surprised at some of these comments- this has happened to me many many times! I often have both my lenses falling out- much to my embarassment. The worst time was when I was at a friend's house and the both fell into a fake sheepsking fluffy rug!

Not as embarassing as what happened to my auntie - her false teeth came out and dropped onto a jumper a customer was looking at!

Ha ha ha ha....some brilliant replies here folks, thanks you've all cheered me up and as it is my birthday today, I feel like being cheery.

Andrew, yes it could be time for a refit, and luckily I have an appointment on Friday at 3.30pm so the timing couldn't be better. 8)

Sweet...yes the eyes were drying out, and I knew that really, was just engrossed in work and hadn't got round to dealing with the eyes. Tut tut that will teach me eh....!!!

Anyway no problems since so good news! :D
